STEP
Step is an abbreviation for Sao Tomé en Principe. An island country in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western coast of Central Africa. The islands were uninhabited until their discovery in 1470. It has a dark colonial history that still resonates today.
I visited the country as part of a personal project “Follow the Equator”, a visual tour that registers life along the countries that lie on this imaginary line that divides the northern and southern hemisphere.
